"My education in fantasy writing comes from an M.A. from McMaster University, Canada, with a thesis specialty in the fairy tale. As an artist, I have had formal training from Sheridan School of Fine Arts, and have operated my own fine art business for more than twenty-five years." NANCY GUILD BENDALL writes and paints from her studio at the edge of a small village near Toronto Canada, looking all the while for fairies at the top of the garden. Just for fun !
Taking a break from digital art for a while. These days, I’ve been whittling away at wood, measuring my Prufrock-ian days with carved wooden figures. As each is completed it is polished with beeswax and lined up in platoon formation across a bank of dressers waiting their destinations. Although I overdo it and end up whimpering in the night from cramped muscles and joints, I do think it’s to the good to challenge the brain/hand connection and oil rusty fingers around tiny wooden sculptures. With each piece I push myself beyond my natural skill level. I have a trunk-load of ideas vying to be released from small blocks of wood — mostly basswood which is a medium/hard wood. March 2024
